It is possible to measure light in many ways. When we talk about light level we are reffering to the illuminance. The most common measurements of illuminance are Lux and footcandles. The 'Lux' range is a European standard whilst footcandles is the U.S scale. It is a classic case of imperial vs metric.

Measuring light/lux levels in the workplace is important. We have assembled a guide outlining why, where and how to use a lux level meter. Entitled, 'How to measure light and lux levels', it also includes some handy tips on what to look out for when purchasing your meter.

Lux Light Meters from ATP

Lux meters are most commonly used for two purposes. ATP specialise in industrial light meters designed for checking illumination levels within the workplace. The second common use is in photography. Photographic light meters often include specialised features that indicate shutter speed etc. If these features are not required then an industrial device is a cheaper alternative.

All our models are capable of measuring in both lux levels and footcandles. Light measurement is reasonably straight-forward and extra-features are not in excessive demand. Our range comes with a variety of features including adjustable resolutions and data hold. Our pocket light meters are easily our most popular due to their simple design and ease of use.

Our more advanced models feature inbuilt memory for data logging light meters. Also included is a selection of devices that also record other environmental conditions.
